How does ELVIA handle information? |
ELVIA processes information arising from insurance documents or the conclusion of a contract. In particular, ELVIA uses the information to establish premiums, to work out risk, to process claims, for statistical analyses and for marketing purposes. The information is stored physically or electronically. If necessary, the information is passed in so far as is required to involved third parties, specifically to participating insurers, authorities, lawyers and external experts. Data may also be passed on in order to uncover or prevent the abuse of insurance. |

Can I arrange insurance cover, even if my main residence is not in Switzerland? |
No, ELVIA travel insurance policies can only be concluded for people who have their main residence in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein. |

When does the insurance protection start and end? |
Insurance protection starts at the time the trip is booked (cancellation only) or when the trip begins, and finishes when the trip ends. The maximum length of the trip is 31 days. |

Are there any exclusions from the insurance? |
Yes. These depend on the individual insurance components and are derived from the General Terms and Conditions of Insurance, and from the VVG (the Swiss law governing insurance contracts). |

Is there an age limit? |
No, there is no age limit. |

How long can my trip last, so that I am insured for the whole trip? |
Insurance protection is valid for trips lasting a maximum of 31 days. |

What should I do in the event of loss/damage? |
Any loss/damage must be reported without delay to ELVIA, with a description and proof of the incident of loss/damage (e.g. theft of baggage: police report; cancellation insurance: medical certificate). The extent of loss/damage must also be clarified, with evidence if possible (e.g. baggage: sales receipt). Receipts must be forwarded to ELVIA in the original. Other obligations arise from the General Terms and Conditions of Insurance, and from the VVG (the Swiss law governing insurance contracts). |
