Privacy policy

Allianz Global Assistance (IE) Ltd ("we" and "us) takes its responsibilities regarding privacy of customer information very seriously. This policy explains how we use information about our customers and how we protect your privacy.

Why do we need customer's information and how do we use it?
When you require a quotation for travel insurance we need to know your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, the period you are travelling for and where you are travelling to. We also need to know all similar details of any other person’s travelling and any medical condition you or they may have.

If you decide to purchase travel insurance, we then need to know your credit or debit card details.

This information allows us to process and issue your policy booking and to send through your policy wording and certificate by email. We ask for your telephone number so that we can contact you urgently if there is a problem with your application. We subsequently use the information to handle any assistance or claim you, or the person's travelling with you, may have.

We use tracking software to monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of the site. This software does not enable us to capture any personally identifying information.

What security do we use to protect customer information?
When you purchase your insurance, we offer the use of secure server software that encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. This ensures that the information is reasonably protected against unauthorised interception.

In order to comply with our obligations under the Data Protection Acts of 1984 and 1998, we also follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which has been given to us, to prevent unauthorised access to that information.

Our use of "cookies".
Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive.
Allianz Global Assistance do not use 'cookies' of this nature and your use of the insurance site will not result in any additional information being stored on your computer without you requiring it to be stored.

Does Allianz Global Assistance disclose the information it collects to outside parties?
Allianz Global Assistance reserves the right to pass your information on to trustworthy third parties that we may use for the provision of certain services which are primarily claims or assistance related, for example, medical repatriation services, solicitors and loss adjusters.
These third parties are contracted to Allianz Global Assistance and as part of their contractual obligations are not permitted to disclose your information to other parties.That apart, we never disclose information about customer's to any other person or organisation without customer consent unless there is an emergency situation that requires it or we are legally required to do so.
