The operational teams of the Group handle a total of nearly 9.7 million interventions every year. A rich history of diversity and innovation

Our history, which started in 1950 with the creation of ELVIA, continued over the years with creations ex nihilo in France and abroad, with the acquisition of new companies to enrich the existing capital in France and also across the Atlantic, with innovations in terms of services to match the changing face of our society. 1950

Creation of Elvia Assurances Voyages in Zurich, Switzerland.


1958

Location of Elvia in France. Elvia France rapidly grew in the sector of tourism to become one of the leaders on travel insurance on the European market.


1971

Creation of France Secours.


1974

Foundation of Sacnas-Mondial Assistance by the French Automobile Club and the GAN. Mondial Assistance France established a strong position in B2B by offering companies the possibility of covering their customers with car and medical assistance.


1979

The AGF become shareholders in Mondial Assistance.


1983

France Secours joins the Mondial Assistance Group.


1985

The offering of assistance from France Secours and Mondial Assistance is further expanded to include everyday assistance such as home help, child-minding, medical information legal information, etc. to meet new market expectations.


1991

Mondial Assistance France invests in solutions geared to problems related to the loss of autonomy with the creation of the very first services designed to encourage keeping the elderly in their own homes.


1994

The problem of unemployment becomes acute. France Secours and Mondial Assistance develop employment-oriented services, such as employment assistance and Back-to-Work Help, thus bringing a concrete answer to a very real social problem.


1995

Elvia joins the Allianz group.


2000

January 1: creation of the Mondial Assistance Group, controlled equally by the AGF and RAS. It becomes the specialist in travel assistance and insurance within the Allianz group.
April: acquisition of the American group World Access.


2001

Acquisition of Worldcare (Australia) and of Autoassist (Thailand), reinforcing the international reach of the Group, now present on all 5 continents.


2002

The turnover of the Mondial Assistance Group exceeds 1 billion Euros.
Creation in France of the facility at Le Mans, entirely dedicated to car assistance.


2003

Implementation of a new service for assistance in preparing retirement by Mondial Assistance en France.
October: launch of the Group’s Health strategy.
November: acquisition of 50 % of REHACARE (a company specialised in the rehabilitation of accident victims).


2004

Launch of the first evaluation of clinics and hospitals in over 100 different countries.


2005

January: the Mondial Assistance Group participates in the health repatriation of over 3,000 people after the tsunami in Asia.
November: the Mondial Assistance Group signs a strategic alliance in Japan with Millea Holdings for the creation of a 50/50 joint venture.


2006

On January 1, Klaus Dührkop is appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Mondial Assistance Group.


2007

January 1, 2007,Elvia, France Secours, Mondial Assistance and their Joint Services Company join forces to become the French leader in travel assistance and insurance, called Mondial Assistance France SAS. Didier Lebret is appointed Chairman of the new entity.
